Release Notes: Item 1406-02
Packaging
This release modifies the FINANCIER packaging routines to:
- Adjust the calculation of Pell awards when the Pell lifetime limit is about to exceed 600%. Previously, when a student was about to hit the 600% limit, the Pell award was calculated correctly, but could be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar, allowing for a student to slightly exceed the 600% limit.
- Correct the calculation of prior year LEU. Previously the calculation, which takes last year's CPS file disbursement and scheduled award data to compute the percentage of lifetime eligibility usage represented by prior year undisbursed Pell, effectively truncated the usage percent to one decimal place (nnnn.n). As corrected, the calculation produces a usage percentage expressed to three decimal places (nnnn.nnn).
- Correct the Pell award calculation for a student who has Pell Need (M1 methodology) but no Overall Need (M2 of zero). Previously the calculation was using the M2 need (0) in this situation; after correction it consistently uses Pell need (M1).
- Increase the capacity of the detail message field, which contains the student's status, class, GPA, LEU, etc., on the WFPKPAKB reports. Previously the field was 100 bytes, which was inadequate to display all the information that might possibly be available. At 200 bytes, the field can now display all relevant messages.
- Correct the use of the NSLDS Subsidized Limit field when calculating 2014-15 Subsidized loan awards to incorporate the 150% Subsidized loan limit rule.
